ANNANDALE HOUSE

RESIDENTIAL ALTERATION + ADDITIONS

The renovation of this Artists  Studio commissioned by Julian Cress is a heartfelt tribute to his late father, as The Studio was lovingly restored to a luxury living space, with elements that spoke of  individual craftsmanship and attention to detail that nodded towards industrial with a palette that feels warm and inviting, crafted from bleached oak, natural fibres, white and handcrafted copper, making it bright and airy.

The  old warehouse was converted in to a luxury residence, its project name Wabi-sabi. Wabi-sabi represents a comprehensive Japanese  aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. The house's  bare bones were embraced and  redefined  to create a new  modern beauty,  that allows light and  air to  inspire the soul, much like good art does.

Pivotal Constructions, as the judges of The master Builders Awards 2015 point out, took this "architecturally crafted warehouse and panel repair shop has been converted into a grand home. The builder has produced a most stunning entry. The trades’ workmanship is perfect."
